FC Crew brings home 3 medals from Speakmon!

2010 Speakmon Regatta

On October 16^th The Fox Chapel Crew Club Girls’ Lightweight 8+ earned a Gold Medal at the Speakmon Memorial Regatta in Columbus, Ohio. Rowing in the 1^st place boat were Erica Taylor, Nicole Segall, Phoebe Roe, Mackenna Bell, Shannon Monahan, Jessica Kaplan, Nina Appasamy and Emily Rogalski, with Kelly Power as coxswain. The team also garnered a Silver Medal for the Girls’ Novice 4+. Rowing in this boat were Sarah Grossman, Vanessa Sacco, Katie Orr and Kimberly Totten with coxswain Praneeta Govil. The Boys’ Lightweight 4+ also earned a medal coming in 3^rd place in their event. The Bronze medal boat consisted of rowers Ryan Shymansky, Jeffrey Good, Michael Kormos, Jory Segal and was coxed by Ethan Diamond. This annual event attracts teams from high schools, universities and rowing clubs across the region. This year the Fox Chapel team entered 16 boats in a total of 13 events; the regatta had teams competing from 10 states and Canada in the day-long event.

2010 SRAA National Championship

FC Crew Ltwt 8+ comes in 4th in finals, narrowly missing a bronze medal by 2 seconds.

1st place: Canisius (NY Scholastic Champion)
2nd place: St. Joe Prep (Philly Cities Champion)
3rd place: Woodbridge (VA Scholastic Champion)
4th place: Fox Chapel (Midwest Champion)

2010 Scholastic Sprints

Strong afternoon winds eventually caused the cancellation of the majority of Final events. On a brighter note, 8 FC Crew boats progressed to Finals.

The only completed finals were the Ltwt 4+, where Toby Foglia, Andrew Todd, Andrew Altman, Jeff Good and coxswain Mikey Sparta, finished first capturing GOLD and the Men's Varsity 8+ of Mikey Sparta, Toby Foglia, Andrew Todd, Andrew Altman, Jeff Good, Ryan Shymansky, Bennet Gould, Vedant Patel, and Jory Segal came in third place, winning bronze medals. Congratulations Boys!

FC Crew captures 3 medals at Gov Cup!

Boys Novice Four with Andrew Kemp/Matt Gostowski, Jesse Eicher, Ian Cullen, and Mason Klug, came in third place.

Girls Novice Four with Kelly Power/Shannon Monahan, Mackenna Bell, Arianna DiMatteo and Jessica Kaplan, finished second, bringing home silver.

Boys Ltwt Eight with Mikey Sparta/Toby Foglia, Andrew Todd, Ryan Schmansky, Jeff Good, Andrew Altman, Jory Segal, Bennet Gould, and Vedant Patel, placed first in their heat to qualify for finals where they walked away with a bronze medal.

All-in-all, a great day of racing on Grigg's Reservoir for Fox Chapel Crew! FC Crew returned home for another week of training before the first home race of the season!
